Article #ETM230B
Synopsis
Logging off of a Windows NT/2000 computer immediately after requesting a TeleAudit® Report can cause the data retrieval process to abort.
Versions Affected
ETM® Platform v3.x and later
Known Workarounds
If you log off of Windows on the TeleAudit Report Server computer within the 10-20 seconds while the service is starting, the service does not start, an error message appears on the infrastructure manager computer, and the data retrieval process aborts. If this occurs, simply request the report again, which reactivates the TeleAudit Report Server service.
More Information
To conserve system resources, the TeleAudit Report Server service does not activate until a report is requested via the infrastructure manager or by the ETM Server. When a report is requested, the Windows activation system activates the TeleAudit Report Server service, which takes approximately 10-20 seconds.
After the TeleAudit Report Server service is activated, it continues to run while generating the report, then idles for one minute after the report is completed. If no reports are requested during the idle period, the TeleAudit Report Server service deactivates. The service is reactivated by the Windows activation system when the next report is requested.
The one-minute idle period is the default, but can be changed in the twms.properties file.
To change the Report Server service idle time
- Open the twms.properties file, located in the ETM Platform installation directory.
- Scroll to the section that reads:
- Replace 60000 with the preferred idle time, in milliseconds. For example, to set the idle time to 30 seconds, replace 60000 with 30000.
